Would you like to Chair NUSU’s Disciplinary and Scrutiny Committees and support the effective running of NUSU? Could you be this year’s Chair of Scrutiny?

The Chair of Scrutiny is responsible for the smooth running of the Students’ Union Scrutiny Committee and oversee its review functions as well as investigations. The Chair will also review the Disciplinary procedure and the procedure of Scrutiny Committee on a regular basis. The role also plays a key role in ensuring that members of Scrutiny Committee and members of Disciplinary Committee receive adequate training in their role.

The election for the 2020/21 Chair of Scrutiny will begin at the first NUSU Council. If you would like to run in the election you can join the meeting and during the relevant time in the agenda, you can let us know that you will be nominating yourself. Have something prepared to let other students know why they should vote for you – just a general overview of your experience, interests and why you are running is enough. There will be a section for elections during the meeting and the Chair of Council will call for you (and any others running for the role) to give your short speech. When the meeting ends (around 7.30pm) the election will open and students from across the University will be able to vote. Voting will be open until 2pm on Friday 30 October and then we hope to let you know the outcome by the end of that day.

If you believe the role is for you, make sure you join NUSU Student Council on Thursday 29 October.

Please get in touch with any questions or if you know you are going to be putting yourself forward for the role.
