Newcastle University has been operating in Singapore since 2007. Back then, our courses cater the needs of leading figures in the marine sector. In 2009, we move forward by developing partnership with the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) to provide top-quality degrees for major areas in Engineering and Science using the facilities of SIT’s Ngee Ann and Nanyang Polytechnics.

Newcastle Research & Innovation Institute was incorporated in Singapore on 10 March 2017. NewRIIS is a fully owned subsidiary of the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and act as a hub of research, collaboration and innovation. NewRIIS will cater to postgraduate students based on postgraduates programmes developed, monitored and awarded solely by Newcastle University in UK.

The postgraduate degrees to be delivered via NewRIIS are research-informed. We aim to match the research interests of candidates, industry and faculty. We provide a unique blend of academic excellence, real-world relevance and the global reputation of Newcastle University. “Research & Innovation”, therefore, is the soul of the entity.

NewRIIS occupies an 11,000 sq ft. unit at the Devan Nair Institute. The Research & Innovation Institute is expected to house up to a hundred students in the 2 classrooms, open-plan research area, 4 laboratories (computer labs and simulation labs), a visualization suite, meeting / seminar room facilities, and office administrative area.

To ensure matters regarding Student Affairs runs smoothly in all our Singapore campuses, we provide training, advice and guidance to NUSU’s Student Management Committee and NewRIIS’s School Representatives.
