  • Picking-up Surplus Food

    This opportunity is ongoing, with no end date.

    We support people who are hungry and lonely by serving tasty lunches and dinners every single day in towns and cities across the country. Many of our guests struggle to afford the basics to eat and many will eat alone without company or conversation. We work in both Byker and Walker and are recruiting for the following roles: Picking-up surplus food: Hop on your bike, take to the streets or jump in the car and help us to rescue lots of tasty food from the bin. Join us to take this food to your local project, where our cooking volunteers will transform it into a delicious, 3-course meal for the community. If driving, volunteers must register as a driver with us and conform to the driver’s policy: https://volunteer.foodcycle.org.uk/Volunteer-Drivers In addition we are also for students who would like to take on leadership roles. Training will be given.

  • Cooking

    We support people who are hungry and lonely by serving tasty lunches and dinners every single day in towns and cities across the country. Many of our guests struggle to afford the basics to eat and many will eat alone without company or conversation. We work in both Byker and Walker and are recruiting for the following roles: Cooking: Roll your sleeves up, sport a fetching hairnet and join the kitchen team to produce a three-course vegetarian meal using surplus food. You’ll be peeling, chopping, frying, mixing, boiling, serving and washing up. But most of all, you’ll have a lot of fun. In addition we are also for students who would like to take on leadership roles. Training will be given.

  • Hosting

    We support people who are hungry and lonely by serving tasty lunches and dinners every single day in towns and cities across the country. Many of our guests struggle to afford the basics to eat and many will eat alone without company or conversation. We work in both Byker and Walker and are recruiting for the following roles: Hosting: As a Hosting Volunteer, you’ll support the team in creating a warm, welcoming environment for our guests. You’ll serve food, share a meal with our guests, encourage conversation and clean up after the meal. You’ll be supported by a FoodCycle qualified Project Leader, who will help you develop your hosting skills. In addition we are also for students who would like to take on leadership roles. Training will be given.
