Our aims at NUSU are to be democratic, inclusive, effective, progressive, sustainable, socially responsible, and fun. Here at NUSU we always try to be the answer for students’ questions. Feeling hungry? We have a range of food outlets including Dominoes and Subway. Or why not try our vibrant student bar Luther’s? Our shop sells everything from snacks to Newcastle University silverware, and our in-house printing company Splosh is the place to go for all your printing and binding needs. Check out Venue, our dedicated events space under the Students’ Union hosting a huge range of events for you the students.
As well as our hard work to put on events and keeping you fed, we also care about making a meaningful difference to the student experience. Our huge network of school and course reps are here to feedback on your course as well as our campaigns to help ease University-wide issues like the cost of living for students. Alongside our rep system, we also have a number of Part-time Officers and Sabbatical Officers (Sabb officers) that take on more formal representational responsibilities, like attending meetings on your behalf.
There are also loads of opportunities to get involved in societies and sport at Newcastle University. With over 200 societies and 60 clubs, the Students’ Union is here to make sure you have a great time outside of your lectures. We also encourage students to make the most of the opportunities to write and get involved in our award-winning student media teams such as the Courier Newspaper, Newcastle Student Radio, and NUTV.
With thousands of you getting involved every year with the work of the NUSU we love to celebrate your achievements and everything you do for the University, City, and wider society. That’s why every May we have our Celebrating Success week, a whole week dedicated to you and your contributions to a range of different areas of work at NUSU.
