Who are we?

Ran for students by students, your Student's Union cares about student issues & improving your University experience. Our aims at NUSU are to be democratic, inclusive, effective, progressive, sustainable, socially responsible, and fun.

At NUSU, we have a wide range of food outlets, as well as our Students' Union bar which puts on weekly events & deals. Down at our basement level, we have 'Venue', where we host large-scale live events, gigs & clubnights.

We care about making a meaningful difference to the student experience. Our huge network of school and course reps are here to feedback on your course as well as our campaigns to help ease University-wide issues like the cost of living for students. Alongside our rep system, we also have our democratically elected Officer team that take on more formal representational responsibilities, like attending meetings on your behalf, launching awareness campaigns, and fighting for change that benefits you.

We have plenty of opportunities to get involved with something new. With over 180 societies, 60 Sports Clubs & a extensive Student Media team, the Students’ Union is here to make sure you you have a well-rounded University experience. As well as this, we have a dedicated Volunteering department who run hundreds of projects every year.

Here at the Students' Union, we have a new Wellbeing centre which is here to ensure we are fighting the good fight for equality, diversity & inclusion for students. We also have a dedicated Student Advice Centre where you are able to book appointments with to discuss any issues or concerns you may have.

With thousands of you getting involved every year with the work of the NUSU we love to celebrate your achievements and everything you do for the University, City, and wider society. That’s why every May we host our Celebrating Success Awards, a week-long Awards week dedicated to you and your contributions to a range of different areas of work at NUSU.
