Newcastle University Students’ Union is recognized as one of the leading Students’ Unions in the UK and provides a wide range of services, activities, and opportunities to the 28,000 students studying at Newcastle University.
We are looking to appoint a new external Trustee on to our Board. The Board has ultimate responsibility for the affairs of the Students’ Union as it is a fully registered charity and a Company Limited by Guarantee, and the successful applicant will play an important role in ensuring the charity continues with its success.
The trustees play a key role in shaping the future strategic direction of our organization and the Board will meet six times over the academic year. Key responsibilities include: ensuring the Union is operated within the legal framework and charity law; approving the strategic plan; monitoring the progress of the Union against key objectives; and taking responsibility for prudent financial management. This is an exciting time to join the Board as we introduce new services as part of our 3-year strategic plan NUSU 2021; we aim to make sure the experience of every student at Newcastle University is the best it can possibly be and we are very progressive in our approach.
Ideally, we are looking for a senior leader/manager with a wide range of skills that is comfortable operating at a Strategic and Board level. Ideally, you will passionate about the development of young people and may have experience or expertise in Finance, HR or the HE sector.
