Attend Student Council

Student Council takes place six times a year and all Newcastle University students are invited to attend each meeting. Council takes place in the History Room (level 1, NUSU) and the dates for the upcoming Student Council meetings are below. You are able to sign onto one of our casual voting spaces or just turn up to take part in the debate.

There are 65 voting spaces at Student Council. 8 places are allocated to selected students at the first council (Open Voting places), 20 places are allocated for any student wanting to attend (Casual Voting places) and the remainder is allocated for NUSU representatives (Fixed voting places).

Sign up for a Voting Place

Please note: If more than 20 students register for a Casual Place, places will be allocated using a random number generator and you will be notified by email by 12 noon the day before Council to let you know if you have/haven’t been allocated a place.

Voting places explained

Each Student Council meeting holds 20 Casual Places that will be made available to any student who wishes to attend that particular meeting and vote. A casual voting place will only give you the ability to vote in the meeting that you signed up for.
